FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 6/25/2014
Tulsa Welding School (TWS) is pleased to announce this year’s winners of the annual World of Welding (WOW) Van competition. TWS and Lincoln Electric are committed partners to promote welding education and career opportunities in high schools across the country.
The WOW Van is equipped with a Lincoln Electric VRTEX Mobile Welding Simulator that allows students the opportunity to experience various welding scenarios and be scored on quality of welds in a safe environment without the expensive cost of materials. The WOW Van travelled to over 100 high schools during the 2013-2014 school year, where over 4,500 students competed for the highest average scores on the VRTEX.
TWS and Lincoln Electric have partnered on the WOW Van project since its inception in 2010. According to Lincoln Electric Director of Technical Training Carl Peters, “It is important to attract talented young people to career opportunities in the welding industry. We partner with Tulsa Welding School because they have such a quality education program that prepares students for critical jobs in demand today”. Since the program began, the WOW Van has exposed tens of thousands of students to welding education through VRTEX Welding Simulators nationwide at high schools and conferences. TWS also partners with the John F. Lincoln Foundation for the FFA Agriculture Education Proficiency Award totaling $34,000 as further commitment to support education.
