WELDING COMPETITION DRAWS NATIONAL TALENT
STUDENTS TO COMPETE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Tulsa, OK – January 20, 2012Tulsa Welding School (TWS) will be hosting their annual welding competition Saturday, Feb. 25.

Over 200 participants will be coming from at least 18 states to compete for the grand prize of a full tuition scholarship to TWS. Several partial tuition scholarships and prizes will be awarded to top runner-ups, as well as a $500 scholarship for every participant. Contestants will be judged by members of the American Welding Society (AWS) and winners will be announced at 5 p.m.

During the event, attendees and their families will be able to tour the TWS campus, speak to admissions counselors and attend demonstrations by TWS faculty and welding industry experts. A number of sponsors and vendors including Lincoln Electric, Airgas, and 3M Speedglass will also be on hand for students to speak with and try welding and safety equipment, as well as employers to speak with about opportunities in the industry.

Additional sponsor-provided door prizes will also be given away.

At least 1000 people are expected to be in attendance.

The competition is open to high school seniors who are currently taking a welding class in high school or at a vocational technical school. If you’re interested in attending as a vendor, please contact TWS at 800- 331-2934.
