You can learn about anticipated changes in the industry, what is going on in the national and international welding community and you may even find new career opportunities in the advertising sections. While there are many to choose from, here is a selection of four helpful welding publications:

1) Practical Welding Today

Practical Welding Today is a bimonthly journal with free subscriptions for those who qualify as welders and live in North America. It helps you stay updated in your welding career by focusing on five specific areas:

  • Systems and equipment
  • Safety
  • Consumables
  • Cutting and welding preparation
  • Welding inspection

It also covers real-world stories about applications, as well as practical information and advice for welders. For example, topics in the January/February 2015 issue range from topics on welding tools, like how to choose a helmet, to why it is so difficult to weld anodized aluminum. Each publication also has a feature dedicated to a particularly remarkable welder.

2) The Welding Journal

Published by the American Welding Society (AWS), the Welding Journal dates back to 1922. It is a monthly publication, and a subscription is included as a benefit to membership in the AWS. It provides an excellent resource for enhancing your welding career. Its articles are designed to provide reports of every new technological development.
