How Long is Welding School?
The Professional Welding program can be completed in as little as seven months and is available at four TWS campuses: Tulsa, Jacksonville, Houston, and Dallas Metro. The Welding Specialist with Pipefitting can be completed in as little as 9 ½ months as is offered at the Jacksonville and Houston campuses.
How Much Does Welding School Actually Cost?

Tuition – the bulk of the cost is for tuition. At TWS, tuition costs are as follows:
- Welding Specialist $18,700
- Welding Specialist with Pipefitting $22,700
The tuition cost for each program does not include funds for course materials, textbooks, lab feeds, gear package, accident insurance, and technology fees. Those on active duty and veterans pay less tuition and may be eligible for military educational benefits.
Course Materials/Textbooks – TWS includes $350 to $400 for course materials and textbooks in the program’s overall cost.
Lab Fees – There is a $2,000 lab fee for the welding programs. This covers the equipment, building costs, and other expenses associated with hands-on experience in a lab setting.
Gear Package – since welding professionals need safety gear, the program cost includes $1,800 for welding face shields, gloves, fire-resistant clothing, and other gear to learn the welding trade safely.
Accident Insurance – TWS includes $300 for accident insurance, just in case.
Technology Fee – part of the training program includes computers, technology, and virtual reality. This technology costs $500 for OccuWeld, a virtual reality training headset for immersive welding training and direct feedback.
The total for tuition and fees for the Welding Program at TWS is:
- Welding Specialist $23,650
- Welding Specialist with Pipefitting $29,150
Room & Board – For students who commute from home, there is a travel fee and the cost of living for food, gas, and incidentals. Students who live off campus can expect to pay $1,000 to $1,500 in rent and $300 in travel each month. Costs vary by campus. The specific costs per campus are as follows:
