What Are Military Grants?
Grants are sums of money paid by the government that don’t have to be repaid. They are often based on financial need and, in the case of military grants, a student’s service in the U.S. Armed Forcesii,iii.

What Military Grants Are Available?
Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant
A grant for students whose parents died serving in Afghanistan or Iraq after 9/11. Students must have been under 24 years old at the time of their parents’ death. After completing the FAFSA process, they must not be eligible for a Pell Grant. A least part-time enrollment is required. Click here to learn more.
Additional Pell Grant
Students who were under 24 years old when their parents died while fighting in Afghanistan or Iraq after 9/11 and who received an Expected Family Contribution of zero after submitting the FAFSA may qualify for the maximum amount of funds available through the Pell Grant and other federal student aid programs.
